I know I’ve been whining about my kids being sick a lot. While pregnant I lamented about it and how I was afraid of Flynn catching something once he was born.
Before leaving the hospital with him we were warned about RSV and to keep sick people, especially kids, away from him.
Easier said than done.
When we welcomed Flynn home we also welcomed several nasty colds.
Three kids who are sick & adore their baby brother. Mommy & Daddy who are also sick and caring for a newborn.
Of course Flynn caught one of the colds and flu going around the house.
But RSV? Didn’t expect that.
It started with congestion. So we tried to keep his nose clear.
Then came a tiny cough. So we kept an eye out.
Then the wheezing. Oh, my poor little seven week old. He was wheezing.
Then came the doctor visit, the nose swab test, the RSV and the nebulizer.
The $300 fire truck shaped nebulizer.

Every four hours. Night & day. Breathing treatments. Oi.
There is a bright side. There was no hospital stay and Flynn is improving. We caught it soon enough and have been able to treat it at home.

Daddy gives him most of his treatments, because Flynn behaves better for him. At first the treatments only bugged him a little and then he’d fall asleep. But now he screams during them. We have to continue them until he is cough free. So we have at least one more week.
Sick kids, babies and parents. Total nuisance, but we will get through it. Thankfully it’s only colds and the flu.

Poor little babe! And mommy and daddy too
My first son got RSV at 4 weeks old, so I totally feel you! They tried to let him ride it out at home but the breathing got too difficult and we brought him in his oxygen sat was in the 80′s. So we were in the hospital for 10 days. It was CRAZY! but those breathing treatments work wonders! hope baby Flynn is better in no time!
I can’t imagine having to be in the hospital ten days. Poor baby! Flynn is good now, so I guess he recovered pretty quick. Those breathing treatments really are great, even if he hated them.
