It’s summer and the kids and I have been in a bit of a lunch rut. We’ve been having a lot of peanut butter, grilled cheese, and hot dogs. If you’re anything like me you can only eat the same meal over and over a certain amount of times before you feel like you’re going insane. Enter Velveeta Shells and Cheese to save the day.
My kids don’t really care for the stuff in the blue box, and I don’t blame them. Would you rather eat powdered cheese or something smooth creamy? You’d choose the creamy, liquid gold, right?
Last week, we went on a little adventure (every outing is an adventure with four kids in tow) to pick up some #cheesyshells. Then we made ourselves a quick lunch.
My kids, being the picky eaters they are, prefer their Velveeta shells and cheese plain. I made some broccoli to mix in with mine, and we called it a meal. Next time I think I will add some chorizo to the mix to spice it up a bit, and give us some more variety.
Now we’ve come up with another simple meal to add to the mix. The only problem I have (if you can call it one) is that I am now asked if they can have shells and cheese for every meal – even breakfast. Sometimes I get these little glimpses into how the kids will be as teenagers, and I think I just got a preview of how strange their eating habits will be. But, I suppose it’s okay to have them for breakfast every once in a while. Right?
