A Look Back – 1987

I am making every effort to avoid the tiny 6-8 page script I have to write for one of my assignments that is due tomorrow, so I was reading some of my favorite blogs. Absolute Mommy is a co-host in a fun (maybe awkward is a better word) link up where bloggers share pictures of themselves from the past. Like way back in the day…as in the 80′s. This week is 1987. I’ve learned through my blog stalking that a lot of bloggers are still in their 20′s, so these earlier link ups probably don’t have a lot of people participating cause they were either not born yet or only two years old. I, on the other hand, will be 32 in ten days…so I have plenty of embarrassing photos to share from a decade where neon and big, permed hair ruled.

In 1987 I was six for most of the year. Below is a picture of me and my younger sister, Kristin. She is also a September baby so she is probably four in this picture. We are at my Grandparent’s house in West Hills, CA (although it was still Canoga Park then). We were there a lot. I grew up in Simi Valley and the drive to their house was about twenty minutes or so.

And this picture is from Halloween 1987. I am seven and in the second grade. The picture was taken on the lawn of my elementary school. From left to right is: my brother Paddy as a Transformer (he was three), my best friend’s younger brother as ALF, my sister, Kristin as Bo Peep, my best friend as a Princess and me as Little Miss Muffet.

Those aren’t too embarrassing I suppose. If I have the time to link up to future “Look Backs” it will definitely start to get awkward.
