Tuesday we hit the 38 week mark. I was a little disappointed that Flynn decided to be different from his brother and not make is appearance at 37 weeks 6 days, but I know he’ll make his debut when he’s ready. I just hope he weighs less than Grayson. If he weighs the same or more than his brother did at birth then I will be birthing a kid that is over 9 pounds 4 ounces.
I’m just tired. And sore. Oh, so very sore.
At my 37 and 38 week appointments I measured around one week ahead. My doctor checked Flynn’s position via ultrasound and he is now head down, face down – ready to go. I’m also 2 centimeters dilated and 60% effaced, the placenta is “mature,” and there is still a good amount of fluid surrounding our little dude. Basically, I can go at any time. Today was actually my last appointment with my doctor. I won’t see him again until I am induced bright and early on Wednesday morning. Actually, it won’t be that bright. I’ll be at the hospital before the sun is up.
Since the majority of our family and friends live in California we don’t have much help as far as the older kids go. If I go into labor before the induction date we have a friend who will come watch the older kids until my sister (who lives an hour away) can get here. If Flynn comes as scheduled my sister will be out the night before. The only bummer with it all is she can only take one day off from work, so after Flynn is born David needs to get back home that night. With the other kids our help was more flexible so David was able to stay overnight in the hospital with the babies and me that first night. He’s a little upset that he will have to miss out on that time. Which I totally understand. I try not to think about or worry about it too much though, cause it then makes me sad as well.
We’ve pretty much done all we can to get ready for Flynn. It’s just a bunch of waiting now. David and I are trying to get all our homework done ASAP, just in case Flynn comes this weekend (which would be nice, it would solve that first night issue). We start our winter break on the 17th though, so if he comes as scheduled then we won’t have to worry about homework.
