30 Week Bump Update

Now that all we have left of the “sickies” in our house are some residual coughs I have a little more time to give a bump update.

Yesterday marked 30 weeks for me. It feels like it has taken forever to get to this point, but now that we are here I REALLY hope it starts to fly by.

My classy 6 AM mirror shot.

Other than being extremely exhausted I feel pretty good. I’ve finally hit the point in this pregnancy where I am no longer getting sick every morning. The Gestational Diabetes is being maintained by diet and exercise, though my fasting numbers (my blood sugar level upon waking) have been higher than the 90mg the doctor wants it to be. He’s not terribly concerned about it though as all my other numbers are in check, so no need for medication yet (I had to be on Glucophage with Irelyn). I see my doctor every two weeks at this point.

I had at one point gained ten pounds, but since the onset of the GD I have lost four. So six pounds gained. At my last two appointments (today and October 3rd) I measured three weeks ahead.

Flynn at 28 weeks. Look at those cheeks!

Flynn is a kicker. When I try and sleep on my sides at night it feels like he is jogging in place on the side of my belly – complete with arm pumps. He’s an active little dude and I will miss this part the most about pregnancy. We had an ultrasound on October 1st and the technician estimated him to weigh 2lbs, 13 oz at that point (I was 28 weeks). Because of my history of big babies, the GD, and my consistently measuring ahead we will have another ultrasound around 35-36 weeks to check on Flynn’s size. With the other kids, they all were estimated to weigh around 6lbs at that point.

I’ve noticed that I get Braxton Hicks several times throughout the day and I’ve been getting heartburn too. These are both new to me with this pregnancy.

So… other than really wanting a hot fudge brownie sundae, I am doing well. As is Flynn. Just counting down the days!
